What we do know: A cartoon man in a red cap and blue overalls with a large black mustache is shown with bulging eyes, a wide open mouth, and a white-gloved hand gripping his own throat, his face flushed purple. Chatters would use this to express choking, gagging, or being overwhelmed with laughter or disbelief.
